Join us for a flavour-packed deep dive into one of Ghana’s most beloved street and home-cooked meals - Waakye. Guided by Mama Akua, you’ll learn to prepare this colourful rice-and-bean dish, cooked with dried sorghum leaves to give it its signature deep hue and earthy flavour.
Waakye is more than just rice and beans. It’s a full plate experience often served with fried plantain, boiled eggs, spaghetti, gari, shito, and your choice of protein like fish, goat, or chicken. In Ghana, it’s a weekend staple that brings people together around the table or bustling roadside stalls. In this class, you’ll create a full Waakye plate from scratch and enjoy it with the group.
